[DMANET] Professorship (W3) in Computer Science at Cologne

The Computer Science Institute at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences of the University of Cologne invites applications for a

Professorship (W3) in Computer Science (Algorithmic Data Analysis),

to be filled as soon as possible.

Due to the new focus "Data Science", we are looking for a scientist (m/f) with
high international reputation for the algorithmic processing of large data sets.
Candidates shall represent areas of algorithmics in research and teaching that
are relevant to "Data Science" – for example randomized, approximation, or
parametrized algorithms. Moreover, we assume experience with the successful
acquisition of competitive third-party funding.

Along with an active cooperation with existing research areas in the Department
of Mathematics and Computer Science, we expect candidates to demonstrate a
strong interest in interdisciplinary applications and a clear willingness to
conduct joint research projects.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in the teaching and
administrative duties of the Computer Science Institute. This includes in
particular an active commitment to the degree programs in mathematics, business
mathematics, and business informatics.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia
University Law and include teaching experience and a PhD degree as well as an
excellent research track record, demonstrated by a Habilitation degree or
equivalent experience. German language proficiency is not initially required;
however, we expect the successful candidate to acquire German language
proficiency within two years after appointment.
