[DMANET] 2-year postdoctoral position in Algorithms at HU Berlin

Department of Computer Science

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

1 Postdoctoral Position in Algorithms

Research Assistant (100% TV-L E 13), 2 years

A 2-year postdoctoral position in Algorithms is available in the
research group of Prof. Stefan Kratsch at the Department of Computer
Science at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The position is available
from April 1, 2018, starting later is possible.

The position is full-time for two years and paid according to TV-L E 13.
(Salary depends on experience and amounts to at least 3500 Euros per
month before taxes.) There is a teaching requirement of 4 hours per
week, which can be fulfilled e.g. by giving specialized lectures and
seminars at the Master level.

The postdoc is free to continue his/her research agenda in any subarea
of algorithms, e.g. (but far from exhaustive) adaptive algorithms,
algorithm engineering, approximation algorithms, computational geometry,
or data structures. Ideally, the research interests are different from
but complementary to that of the existing group, which currently
consists of five other members and focuses on parameterized
algorithms/complexity, preprocessing, and efficient algorithms. Strong
interest in collaborating with the group is welcome.

Berlin offers a strong scientific landscape with plenty of opportunity
for collaborations. There are three universities, the newly starting DFG
research training group "Facets of Complexity", the DFG research center
MATHEON, and the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS). Besides sciences,
Berlin offers a rich, international, and multicultural living
environment, which should cater to most interests and hobbies.

The successful candidate should

* have a PhD in computer science or mathemathics

* have a research background in algorithms and a good publication record

* be interested in collaborating with PhD students

* be fluent in English and German

Interested applicants should send their application containing

* a cover letter describing the interest in the position

* a CV and list of publications

* a short summary of research interests including possible collaborations

* a copy of the PhD diploma

* and names and contact information of two references
